February 12 – 15 2018 will mark the inaugural edition of Advertising Week Latin America as Advertising Week’s fourth global city with its host partner, Grupo Expansión. #AWLATAM, held at some of Mexico City’s most iconic venues, will take unique media, marketing, brand, technology and broader industry communities throughout Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. During the week, they will focus in on key business trends, issues, and conversations that help to shape today’s global industry. Advertising Week LATAM joins a global network of Advertising Week events in New York, Tokyo, Sydney, and London.

Juan Carlos Ortiz was the first Latin American to become president of an advertising agency in the United States when leading Leo Burnett USA, then moved to DDB Worldwide with the project of joining the Latin culture, its creativity, passion and work in order to cross borders and achieve one single idea: the Latin influence. This way, Juan Carlos was the first agency leader in the world to put together all worlds’ Latin markets - Latin America, Spain and USA. In 2014, he also takes on the role of Creative Chairman of DDB Americas with the purpose of fusing the creative teams of North America, Latin, America, and Spain, to establish a center of creative power.

Multiawarded at the Cannes Festival, Ortiz won the first Film Gold Lion at Cannes Festival in Colombian history with a campaign for the government program against drugs. Ortiz collects several awards in advertising competitions all over the world. He has been president of the jury at FIAP – Iberian-American Advertising Festival, at El Ojo de Iberoamerica in Buenos Aires and El Sol de Iberoamerica in Spain. Ortiz was a member of the Global Effie Awards, and member of the jury in the Titanium & Integrated and Jury President of the Outdoor category at the prestigious Cannes Festival.

An inductee of AAF’s Advertising Hall of Achievement (American Advertising Federation), the World Economic Forum announced Ortiz as a Young Global Leader for his professional accomplishments, commitment to society and potential to contribute to shaping the future of the world. He was inducted into the “Salon de La Fama” (Hall of Fame) of FIAP, as one of the legends of Iberian American advertising, considered model and inspiration for the region’s market and new generations. Ortiz launched his book “Shorts”, a creative biography written in his mobile phone and always in planes, during his business trips around the globe. Forbes magazine described Shorts as the postmodern book. In 2013 after the great success of Cortos, Ortiz has relased Cortos y ½, a new edition that includes over 30 new stories. Ortiz is also a columnist in Soho magazine and El Espectador newspaper.

As President of McCann Worldgroup Latin America and Caribbean, Fernando Fascioli leads a region with 27 offices in 21 countries. He has worked in the region for more than 23 years, having served as president of two of its agencies in leading countries.

Fernando joined McCann in Uruguay in 1994 and then moved to McCann Peru in 1998. During his time in Lima, he was at first Account Director, then Strategic Planning Director and later became Operations VP, finally assuming the role of General Manager (CEO) at the agency in 2004. In his role as CEO of McCann Worldgroup Peru, he led the implementation and development of local units Momentum, MRM//McCann and UM. Under his leadership, McCann Peru rose to the No. 1 position in the local ranking of creative agencies and McCann was recognized by the Association of Advertisers in 2010 as the best in its class with the "Excellence Award”.

From 2009 to 2011, in addition to his responsibilities in Peru, Fernando was appointed Business Development Director (Chief Growth Officer) for McCann Worldgroup Latin America and Caribbean Region. Later in July 2011, he moved to Chile as CEO/General Manager of McCann Worldgroup, when the agency received the “Game Changer-Best Agency Award" for the global network. In October 2014, Fernando is promoted to the role of Regional President for Latin America and the Caribbean at McCann Worldgroup position he currently holds. Under his leadership, McCann Worldgroup was named Network of the Year at the FIAP, El Sol and El Ojo de Iberoamérica Festivals in 2016, as well as being the second most awarded network at the 1st edition of Latam Effie Awards.

His experience includes working with brands for local, regional and multinational trademarks, including GM, Coca-Cola, Nestlé, SABMiller, Ripley, Reckitt Benckiser, Yell, Colgate, Hilton, Santander, Adidas, MasterCard, DirecTV, American Airlines, LATAM airlines, L’Oréal, Entel and Bci.

Throughout his career, Fernando has also has maintained a strong connection with the academic world as part-time professor and guest speaker at UCUDAL (Universidad Católica del Uruguay), Universidad del Pacífico (Peru) and PUCP (Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru). Avelino has been juror for film festivals such as AICP Show, Circulo Creativo de México, Ciclope, Guadalajara Film Festival, Shorts Shorts Film Festival, amongst others.

He has also acted as speaker for several film festivals, panels, and universities. He served as the VP of Circulo Creativo de Mexico, as VP of international the affairs for the AMFI, and currently serves as President for the short film/advertising section of the Mexican Film Industry Chamber.

Prior to joining the A+E Networks Latin America team, Sabroso was the Marketing Director for NBC Universal Television Group’s USA and Sci-Fi channels from March 1994 to December 2003.

Sabroso joined A+E Networks Latin America in March 2004 as Marketing Manager for The History Channel, and promoted to Director and later to SVP of Marketing.

Eric has worked with world-recognized publishers and content creators throughout his career. Previously he served as Head of International Sales at AOL Advertising. Eric was also Head of Sales at El Mundo, where he was instrumental in positioning El Mundo as the leading online magazine in Spain.

Eric is a French native, speaks three languages, and lives with his wife and three daughters in Miami, Florida. He is also a proud animal rescuer and an avid Rugby fan.

Armando was named Nielsen Mexico and Puerto Rico and Nielsen IBOPE Mexico and Dominican Republic General Manager in 2015, leading one of the most important Watch businesses in the region.

With a 16-year career at Nielsen, Armando has served as local and regional commercial leader. Before he was named General Manager, he led the Product Leadership area and the Consumer Panel Regional commercial teams. He was in charge of opening Nielsen Peru, fostering long lasting relationship with clients and strengthening the company’s brand.

Armando has a BA in Communication for the Universidad Intercontienental in Mexico City.
