AWLATAM Kick-Off with Mexico City Mayor Mancera


The fourth global edition of Advertising Week, Advertising Week LATAM, kicked off this week with its first planning event hosted by Mexico City Mayor Miguel Ángel Mancera and the Advertising Week LATAM team, including planning partner, Grupo Expansión.

The AWLATAM team and leaders from both global and Latin America-based media, agency, brand, technology and entertainment companies alike gathered with Mayor Mancera to discuss the most pressing issues facing the industry, and how AWLATAM – which will officially launch 12 – 15 February – can best speak to those industry conversations and issues with its week of thought leadership programming and special events.

Companies including Nestlé, Facebook, LinkedIn, Televisa, AOL, Mediacom, Nielson, America Movil, PwC, Claro, Cinco M Dos, Wibe, P&G, Dentsu Aegis Network, McCann Worldwide, DDB, Samsung, Oracle Data Cloud, Nielsen and more were present for the kick-off gathering event in Mexico City.

“After holding this event in such wonderful cities as New York, Tokyo and London, it is our honor to host this event for the first time in Mexico City, for the whole of Latin America. Hosting such an important global event in Mexico City will mean shining an important spotlight on the advertising community, industry leaders from around the world, and the men and women dedicated to this business,” said Mayor Mancera. “We are so proud to be the host of this event and to place it alongside other major events from the worlds of sports, culture and business that have been to Mexico City.”

Since its creation in 2004, Advertising Week has drawn more than 2.5 million participants from around the world for a week of programming that seeks to combine education, engagement, enlightenment and entertainment with its global mission to inspire people to join the craft.

The decision to name Mexico City and greater Latin America as the fifth global host to The Week speaks to the abundance of opportunity for both the creative and business minded within LATAM’s diverse industry hubs. In a move to expand horizons and breach boundaries in an increasingly digitally-connected world, Advertising Week LATAM hopes to pave the way forward into the growing Latin American market.
